New beginnings at Onward House

By Tricia Wright

You’re making new beginnings possible

Thanks to your support, Onward House residents have safe, stable housing. Now they can focus on building for the future. They can make time for things like addressing health care needs, learning to cook, and pursuing new hobbies.

As a supporter, your contributions make this possible. Because of you, our residents have the freedom to think beyond surviving the present. They can chart a path toward thriving, independent adult living.

  • One resident is about to complete a training program and start a full-time position at a local company.

  • Another resident left a toxic work environment and started a new job this month.

  • Another is starting at a new high school.

  • Several residents have set savings goals and are successfully saving and repairing or building credit. These are critical life skills. Many of the young people we serve don’t have the safety net of family support.

Our residents are forming friendships

Our residents often do group social activities.

They’ve recently visited a virtual reality studio, Asia Mall, and Cat Café. They also enjoy:

  • Walks through the many nearby trails

  • Group art projects

  • Movie and game nights, with Onion the Cat always near

These shared experiences help build deep relationships and a sense of community. Residents tell us that peer relationships are one of the best parts of living at Onward House.

“If I get married, they’ll be bridesmaids at my wedding.”

Onward is more than a house. It’s more than a program. It’s a supportive community of young adults cheering each other on. Thank you for making it possible.
